An awareness program was held about law of prohibiting harassment of women and children
On Tuesday July 6, 2021 Professor Hamidullah Farooqi the Acting Minister of MMD attended at awareness program about law of prohibiting harassment of Women and Children, which was arranged by Gender Department of Ministry.
Professor Farooqi stated the importance of law awareness in order to legitimize the society, that all the challenges and problems are due to sovereign weakness and disobedience of citizens to the law. Everybody, including government officials, must respect to the law and work hard to have a lawful society. Also, he said that we all have responsibility toward our country and people in order to have justice and respect among people. Moreover, Pro Farooqi impacted on unique laws of Afghanistan in different field. For instance, one of them is the constitution of our country, which has regulated and predicted all political and social relations of Afghan people fairly, and if we behave according to this constitution, we will definitely contribute to create a law-abiding society.
In Addition, the Acting Minister of MMD deeply wanted from all participants that everything they will learn from this two-day workshop, pass these issues to others in outside and reminding them from negative consequences of harassing women and children, and everybody should be law-abiding in the society. Furthermore, Pro Farooqi expressed hope that all citizens of Afghanistan are aware of their human rights and will never again allow the violent regimes to rule their own destiny and ignore the rights of women, children and other citizens.
Moreover, Sabri Andar the Deputy Minister of Planning and Coordination of MMD spoke on establishing a committee to follow up the illegal treatment of women and children in capital and provinces, and assured from ministry commitment to handling complaints and demands.
Then, the representative of the Ministry of Women's Affairs and COMAC Project talked on issue and mentioned the importance of awareness and responsibilities of citizens.
It is important to mention that this two-day workshop organized with cooperation of COMAC Project, which will discuss in related topics.
